  1.  @thatotherguy8138  They aren't looking for firm character. They want people to look away when wrongdoing happens, or better yet, to quickly construct a story as to why it's fine, no problem, it isn't what it seems to be. "Cancelling" happens to scapegoats. By contrast, it never happened to Epstein or his friends. Not really.

  2.  @tooitchy  I still remember when the kids who went to college worked all summer and earned enough to pay a full year of in-state tuition, fees, and books. They graduated with very little or no debt -- you were expected to earn scholarships and work part-time. Then, a couple of roommates could go anywhere with their degree -- Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Boston, New York, get a minimum wage job, and afford the rent. It was a modest life, but possible. People were proud to strike out on their own and live modestly. After all, their parents grew up during the Depression. By the time I got to college, this was impossible. But the students I'm describing were different people. I envy them. They had opportunity. They expected to do for themselves. It was shameful not to.

  4. Listen more closely. If these degrees, from the "elite" private universities, get you a job at the premier media outlets in the US, then those are not a "useless" degree. What people actually do (evil?) in exchange for that (humongous?) money is the issue. Propaganda/surveillance is a huge industry now, one that spawned overnight billionaires, with Facebook as Exhibit A. Fewer and fewer people do real work, or want to.

  6. Blacks resist? Because they don't know about Eric Gardner and George Floyd? Did you even listen? She was not simply citing incidents where the police were called about a black person, but the ones where black people summonded the police for assistance. In one case in my city, where a family had a young member in apparent psychosis and called the police for help, two people ended up shot dead by a rookie, including the neighbor who opened the door for them.

  7.  @tooitchy  The people who first served in the military, went to community college for two years, then finished their Bachelor's degree on the GI Bill aren't like the ones you describe. They are more like the ones I remember, or better.
