Comments by "L.W. Paradis" (@l.w.paradis2108) on "Uvalde Cops Tackled Parents, Trapped Shooter In Room With Kids For An HOUR" video.
When the shooting at Virginia Tech was reported, TWO administrators knew who was doing it right away.

@kayb3310 BTW, what makes you think you know the beliefs of the shooter? The 9/11 terrorists believed in "something greater than themselves."
2
@robertspencer6320 Are you a doctor?
2
The latter.
2
@jennyk6360 When the errors in the reporting all go in one direction, suspicion or at least heightened scrutiny is warranted. The public needs to support true answers, such as, " we have not established a firm time line yet, and we ask for your patience." Having the wrong story circulating first muddles all subsequent efforts to find out what really happened.
2
@jennyk6360 I agree that no one should be attacking anyone now. The shooter did it. Question is, how?
2
Is this a serious question? That is what they signed up for.
2
Now they need to be trained never to lie about what happened, and the public needs to see "we don't know at this time" as an honest, forthright answer.
2
Not 40 minutes worth of different.

Not the time for comedy.

They have held they cannot be sued for failure to uphold their duty to serve and protect, with a few very rare exceptions that basically never apply.
1
@mikeb5372 It's not quite right. But close. :/
1
@Coats2112 Right, but the issue is really who can sue when they fail to serve and protect. The remedy is not in court; their duty to protect us exists, but it does not create a cause of action in any individual person who they failed. We have to take it up with our local politicians.
1
@Coats2112 And what really seems to surprise people is when they first find out that the police can lie to you, with only a few statements that are off limits, but you can't lie to them. The Constitution protects your right to remain silent.
1
@nostromo2112 Yes.
1
@kayb3310 Do tell.
1
@kayb3310 Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
1
@kayb3310 I'm so much smarter today than I was on Monday.

Columbine was 1999. So a generation and no set protocol.
1
The lawsuits against the school district will force discovery. Likewise a criminal trial or plea deal for that matter. Sharing all pertinent information is a constitutional requirement.
1
There is a problem with the fact that initially, we were misinformed. Brie briefly made the general point you just made, but added, correctly, that the flawed information was all in one direction. This is a problem. Note that we were not initially told that there were discrepancies in the timeline they were attempting to put together, and that they could not give us solid information until a preliminary debriefing took place, and that they had already reached out to FBI to assist. You know. Something like that.
1
Yeah, God bless.
1
@mikeb5372 This was ridiculous. We are post-incident. Which means there are only two acceptable responses: the truth, or, we have not determined that yet, we just don't know. Not, "said individual was engaged . . . "
1
@mikeb5372 What I said. It is unacceptable, however, for public officials to be anything but ultra careful and scrupulously honest. I agree the public and media need to welcome candor, such as, "this is an ongoing investigation . . . we simply don't know at this time." I didn't think this report was overly emotional, but everyone calming down a little more is a good suggestion, absolutely.
1
@mikeb5372 Well. NOW we know.
1
Ryan isn't here.
1
@jennyk6360 We were initially lied to. Who released the initial false reports?
1
Lying to the public is never acceptable.
1
Military euphemism. Odd, huh?
1
So, you expect teachers to be trained for urban combat, too? And you think teachers will sign up?
1
@FirstSuiGeneris So this is going to be one more thing teachers have to do, and you think I'm spouting nonsense? Who will you find who is qualified for this job? What do you know about most teachers?
1
Of course. /s
1
By law all doors open out into the hallway, for generations now.
1
@peetky8645 All do. They must. Fire code.
1
THEN SAY THAT.
1
Who is surprised?
1
Not the point. Who initially told a false story and why? That they don't know until a preliminary investigation is complete is fine. Whoever says "we don't know yet" when that is the only true answer?
1
@imsingincountry Talking about the safety of being behind a desk has no bearing on the issue. The event is over, we are discussing the initial accounts from law enforcement and state actors.
1
@imsingincountry The errors all go in one direction. What do we think when a "person of interest" answers questions that way? Stating that "we haven't been able to establish a firm timeline yet and ask for your patience" should become a praiseworthy response.
1
@imsingincountry The errors made all go in one direction. Does that invite suspicion and heightened scrutiny? I'll let you decide.
1
@imsingincountry EVERYONE talking now is safe behind a desk. You, me, the police, . . .
