@percybedford6266 Are you kidding? You mean you missed Russia Russia Russia? Not to mention that it grew in the end into an ethnic smear against a non-Western people. False accusations against someone like Trump benefit him. He can point to it forever to discredit true reports about the harm he has done. Very dangerous game.

@ish7957 Unjustified criticism of Trump is beneficial to a demagogue like Trump. Criticism of Trump should be TRUE, not an imitation of Trump's wild, malignant lying. Don't pretend you don't know. Don't embarrass yourself.

@percybedford6266 It ALL deserved more. But anyone paying attention certainly knew about it. Concerning the post office fiasco, a deliberate move by Trump to RIG the election, the media left people with the impression that the outcry prevented the strategy from working. True or false, the media preened as being on the winning side with their expose. I'm interested in your take.

@percybedford6266 I think Trump's admission to Bob Woodward that he knew about the dangers of COVID and lied deserved vastly more coverage. The way the story was treated fueled cynicism. A lot of people made it all about Woodward, and dismissed it as scandal mongering for bigger book sales. Tragic. Cynicism has consequences.

@percybedford6266 In the meantime, we're still hearing about Russia. Trump wanted in on their real estate market. Okay. And Hunter and his buddies wanted in on Ukraine. Anyone who knows anything about the RF since Yeltsin, which would be anyone who read Stephen F. Cohen, knows how Americans lined up to loot Russia and its former satellites. Of course that includes Lil' Jared, etc.

@ish7957 I linked to two articles by Glenn Greenwald, on Trump's reckless use of drones against civilians in the Yemeni genocide, and on his immigration policies. It may be YouTube that shadows posts containing links, being unable to check them, or concerned about copyright. Sorry you missed the articles when they came out. /s

@percybedford6266 Try to link it. See if it shows up. Because I watch Rising all the time and that episode does not ring a bell. I do remember that once Sanders was out, Krystal was uncharacteristically quiet for a short time. That didn't last, LOL.

@ish7957 The media pushed FALSE Russiagate stories for the sensationalism and the ratings all the time. I mean literally false and proven to be false. I can't think of much that's worse for foreign policy and domestic politics, either, because it leads to polarization and erodes trust, and harms people's critical faculties. We did not need that in advance of this pandemic.

@raycebannon6374 Re: your Bolshevik argument. "Cats are animals. Dogs are animals. Looks a lot like cats are dogs. Maybe . . . " This doesn't work.

@raycebannon6374 The hammer and sickle is in wide use all over Europe and the rest of the world, and by unions. My Volvo has a tiny version of it on the window, showing it was union-made in Sweden. It was in wide use just now during the strike in India. It did not originate with the Bolsheviks and doesn't refer to them now. Tell me how the swastika compares . . .

@raycebannon6374 "most logical thinking people" OH BROTHER, LOL In the US, the right wing has colonized the notion of logic, too. Here's a clue: some of us have lived elsewhere. We know stuff.

@raycebannon6374 Where? I gave real examples and named actual places. You of course didn't. Semiotics, like languages, are a collective product.
1
@raycebannon6374 Besides, when did I tell you, or anyone, to "embrace" the hammer and sickle? Your style of sophistry is odd. This isn't argumentation, this is parody of Rush Limbaugh.

@raycebannon6374 What question? Whether the heavily armed vigilante groups who display a symbol they themselves associate with racial superiority and Hitler's Third Reich are actually referring to its ancient roots and pre-1930s meaning, expressing devotion to a Hindu diety, or identifying with Native American spiritual beliefs? Is that the question? I suppose we could ask them. I thought we were discussing contemporary political symbols, not some New Age appropriation of an ancient spiritual or religious icon. But hey, people are pretty eclectic when it comes to piling on the symbols these days.

@raycebannon6374 Where was I condescending? Losing what argument? Wasting time, yes. If you want to believe that the hammer and sickle signifies identification with Bolsheviks and Bolshevism, then Europe and India must have hundreds of millions of them. Somehow I don't think so.
1
@raycebannon6374 What I really need to know is will you shoot me for having an old Volvo? This was the Swedish union that worked for Volvo when Ford owned it. A stylized hammer and sickle was their symbol. I didn't put it there. I won't take it off.
