  2. I've never understood Roe's progeny. Only the first trimester (12 weeks) is fully protected for elective abortion, where it is absolutely no one's possible business but the woman's. Regulation after that, more or less onerous, more or less humane, is common all around the developed world.

  7. It was about the extent to which the states are able to intrude on a pregnant woman's decisions about carrying the pregnancy, and a doctor's right to give the advice and treatment he sees fit. Roe said back off.

  10. The Constitution is what protects individuals from government overreach. Give it up at your own peril. The pandemic has shown what they can do. So has the new technology. You don't want to give up the First and Fourth Amendments.

  13.  @energyscholar  You're following the MSM instead of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court upheld state university vaccine mandates by refusing to issue an injunction or hear the case. Who is on that Court? Who appointed those Justices? I don't follow "Team Blue" or any other dog's dinner.

Even leading DNC politicians claimed to be opposed to vaccine mandates during the campaign. Every last one -- Biden, Pelosi, Harris, even Fauci -- are all on record and on videos all over YouTube assuring us that an actual mandate is not possible. A bunch of hypocrits and bullies. That does seem to come naturally, true.

  18. That was the law in France when I lived there. Mandatory counseling to find out why you wanted an abortion. If you gave any financial reasons, mandatory session with a social worker to inform you of all the benefits you qualify for. It had a socialist government then. P. S.: First trimester abortions were paid 70% by the national health service. Pregnancy was paid 100%. Wealthy women got their third-trimester clothing subsidy check. The government said straight up, we have a natality policy. We support births.

  29.  @Mike-In-O-Town  I suggest you read it carefully, and think about its possible ramifications for vaccine mandates. No major case stands alone, or only for a highly narrow, partisan proposition. Finding a privacy right in the Constitution reassures me more than it ever did before, in my own life. Be careful what you wish for, as the saying goes.

  34.  @LP-dc7fh  I often get the feeling that they are experimenting with us to see how we react, and to gauge just how far they can push us. I've offered to accompany people who I know live alone to their vaccination appointment, and to go get something to eat or just hang out afterwards, so that they won't be alone for the first few hours after being vaccinated. One of those people denounced me for not supporting mandates. You tell me. I sure don't get it. ;/
