@utah_koidragon7117 I actually agree with most of this. Almost all, in fact. Based on the title of the video, I was afraid I would cringe -- but now I see RFK Jr is basically right again. JFK had a national fitness program, the President's Council on Physical Fitness. It's no joke, it is essential. Kids are on SSRIs, ADHD medication, puberty blockers(!) . . . And were forced to take a COVID vaccine almost none of them needed, that was never tested on kids, and had a horrible safety profile for young men. Kids need to be on fresh air and push ups, not these dangerous drugs. If you ever get a chance, look at Robert Whitaker, Anatomy of an Epidemic -- about how mental illness became an "epidemic" in the US, and how drugs that only a minority of sufferers actually need were pushed on millions, including kids. He explains how companies like Pfizer captured the medical establishment, and he mentions Pfizer by name as the slickest in their marketing. Looking at those older sources now is eye opening, and truly saddening as well. We don't have many people to defend us. :/

@naijaplayer Of course, but if you want to see the other side -- namely, the compelling evidence of overprescription of psychoactive medications -- please read Robert Whitaker, Anatomy of an Epidemic. I've taken to reading books that predate the COVID pandemic by years or decades. Very instructive.

@naijaplayer Whitaker and similar writers make a case that does not cover everyone's experience or show what is best for everyone. This is why medicine has got to be individualized. I loved this book, but by the end, you see that even he has overstated the case against medication. The problem is that far fewer people truly need it than are pushed to take it, and it hurts everyone, . . . so, the information he gives is really useful for resisting the "take the pill" default, when other things usually can and should be tried first. You are very welcome. With so much money at stake, unbiased information is harder and harder to find. :/

@tomthumb2815 My late father was a natural athlete, and he never saw one of those drugs. He was an immigrant. He didn't need any medication of any kind before his mid-80s. Just how bad off are you all??

@tonygeckler76 If you ever have a child with any serious cognitive issues that affects every aspect of their lives and stands in their way of achieving what you have, then come back and tell us. No one is talking about mucking with anyone's personality and style.

@highroller-jq3ix At RFK Jr's age, musculature is correlated with good health and healthy lifespan. Frailty becomes a problem after age 65 for men. But you are right that a "good build" is not necessarily indicative of good health.

@utah_koidragon7117 I actually thought Briahna's take here was to play devil's advocate, and then intimate that the view that RFK Jr was cringe at least, nodding to the far right wing at most, was in fact wrong. Biden was the one who brought up push ups, in a macho way, not Kennedy. I thought she was pretty slick, tbh.

@LD-tn6ff He states he will address them, and address regulatory capture, and he understands the issues because he has litigated them. But since you press me, do I think anyone can stop the juggernaut? No. Parents are on their own. Everyone is. Leadership in the right direction might slow the decline.
