That was sarcastic, right?

Because she thought it did not go far enough, or secure those rights on a firm, equal protection foundation. Great idea learning and repeating soundbites where complex issues of constitutional law are concerned. That'll work.

@elvisnnaemeka6722 You think it's incoherent to make abortion illegal and expect good outcomes? Do you plan to found a pregnancy police? Do you plan to make medical personnel mandated reporters, like they are for actual mistreatment of actual children.

Why should state legislators decide?

@JayBee-cr8jm What do you call the Fourth Amendment? What do you think protects your right to birth control, and your right to a peaceful love life as a competent adult?
2
@JayBee-cr8jm No. It also applies to birth control, married life, the illegality of anti-miscegenation laws, etc.

@JayBee-cr8jm I didn't suggest she supported the legal reasoning of Roe v. Wade, now did I?

@JayBee-cr8jm Oh, I guess YOU didn't know. A judge can agree with the OUTCOME of a case and reject the legal basis or reasoning offered by the majority. That's where concurring opinions come from. (Ever seen one? RAV v. City of St. Paul would be a splendid place to start, especially because it's a pro-First Amendment case.)

@JayBee-cr8jm "Bad law" means the ruling was wrong.

Yes, those three are supposed to be free of government interference.

@MilwaukeeF40C Because it would interfere with "the pursuit of happiness?" If natural gas bans in homes resulted in an inability to stay warm or cook food at reasonable prices, then yes, it certainly would interfere with the pursuit of happiness in a serious way. We need warmth and cooked meals, and both need to be affordable. So, do bans do that?
1
@JayBee-cr8jm I agree with you about the CDC and its pandemic response, but I'm not sure what you mean about quartering soldiers?
1
@JayBee-cr8jm In practical terms, the Fourth Amendment AND the funds/resources with which to hire an attorney.
1
@JayBee-cr8jm Okay, nevermind. Blocked. Although the government should have taken over payments. Taking of property without just compensation.
