  1. Advertisers are not about "truth." They are about "perception." If ad men want to shun someone who has been defamed, considering that person to have a spoiled identity, they can do that. They don't care about truth.

  2. Psst. Yes it IS a private company. They get to spend their advertising (=a species of truth-challenged persuasion) dollars wherever they want. The solution? Ignore advertising. Make it ineffective.
