@xkaiokenx10 Emily starts out this segment by laughing, and talks about some pop psychology nonsense before Abe. The assassination is reported almost as an afterthought. I guess the lack of gravitas should not surprise me, yet I'm never prepared for it. There is no bottom.
4
And you out her here?
4
YES. BECAUSE HOW THEY ANNOUNCED THIS ASSASSINATION WAS JUST FINE. I cannot believe you people. I cannot. This is what you're focused on? Your base discomfort with Olayemi, who, incidentally, was not born here? Emily starts this segment by laughing.
2
THANK YOU. I am dumbfounded. Truly. Everything you said is true and puts you well above these two talking heads in basic journalistic ethics and competence.
2
@philyoosays Started many, MANY wars. Yeah. Can you name the places the US bombed since Nagasaki?
2
@philyoosays Oh by the way, being authentically very left, I knew Abe was a Bad Guy.
2
YOU FOUND HOW THEY ANNOUNCED THIS ASSASSINATION REFRESHING?? Sick society.
2
@chaosking911 Actually, I didn't have to think. Etiquette comes to me automatically. It was ingrained in me early. ;)
2
Thank you so much for reminding us and please accept my deepest condolences. I am shocked by how this assassination in Japan was reported here, almost as an afterthought, et avec insouciance. Ils ne sont pas bien dans la tete. Je ne peux plus avec eux. Je l'aurais jamais cru si je ne l'avais pas vu et entendu moi-meme.
2
You are fine with how they announced the assassination? Are you serious? Can you possibly mean it? Emily begins this segment by laughing. Olayemi was not born here. I kind of doubt she would be this dim. Only a real merkin . . .
2
You see no problem with how they reported the assassination? REALLY?
2
Good journalists would have thought to raise that question --- perhaps even answer it.
2
All of you are fine with how they announced the assassination. Right. This was no problem. How off are you?
1
So . . . No one noticed how they announced the assassination. That was fine. Starting out the segment by laughing . . . Reporting on a slew of nonsense, including culture nonsense, first . . . Well, I only hope non-Americans tune in to see you in the wild, as it were.
1
@lisa-ul4vi Please keep it up. I should point non-Americans here. Object lesson: don't get involved with this crowd. They don't value you. Their comfort is more important than your lives. They are making a mess AGAIN.
1
Karma in Highland Park? Buffalo? Uvalde?
1
@kumada84 No. I consider the treatment of the assassination when it was breaking news as something that Americans would never stand for from the foreign press if their own ex-president were to be assassinated while campaigning for his party, and too important to present almost as an afterthought, even after fluff news. But I speak other languages, lived in Europe, am not Western, had a Mom who greatly valued manners, especially toward other cultures . . . Need I go on? I don't find Emily particularly good at anything. I would be pleased if she were. Is good performance upsetting? Since when?
1
Thank you for placing some focus where it belongs.
1
Emily starts out this segment by laughing. You are all fine with how they announced the assassination. You focus instead on trashing Olayemi. That's important. Wow, just wow. Well, the mastermind of the Beslan school massacre was given a platform on ABC Nightline, back in the day. This should not surprise me.
1
I was shocked by it. I shouldn't have been, I guess. Memento mori
1
You were fine with how they announced the assassination? And reported it? I knew Americans had problems, but WOW WOW WOW.
1
@crhu319 Exactly, they are lawyers. For better or worse --- or both. Notice who has to get a law degree to have a platform. Emily has spouted nonsense about the law and it will never come back to haunt her.
1
@clydelouis5956 Briahna Joy Gray is opposed to the DNC. She was Bernie Sanders' press secretary and refused to endorse Hillary or Joe Biden without extracting certain important policy assurances from them in return. She supported Force the Vote against Nancy Pelosi as well, and has expressed interest in a third party. Olayemi is an immigrant and I believe she said she did not vote in the last election. I may have misunderstood. She is a public defender in New York City.
1
But Karma took a vacation in Highland Park, huh? Gosh, too bad.
1
OH WAIT. ABE ISN'T EURO EITHER. Now I get it. Took me some time.
1
@thebullgator It was treated almost as an afterthought. Would you consider this a proper report of an American ex-president's assassination? Emily starts out the segment by laughing. They talk about some political pop psychology report first. Abe should have been the lead.
1
@chaosking911 I'm fine bro. I wonder what you're on. I bet I've never heard of it and couldn't pronounce it. Well, you took that name for a reason . . .
1
@thebullgator Forgive me. I guess I lived in Paris too long in my youth. I actually know something about how one conducts oneself towards others in times of massive shock for them, regardless of what you may (justifiably or not) think of the person in question. Our school shootings are reported with more sensitivity abroad.
1
@thebullgator I said HOW they reported it. Went back to check. Is there some reason you must falsify the remarks of anyone who doesn't agree with you? Or, I should say, why are you compelled to falsify? Then demean?
1
@The1stLumiens The point is, you don't say that in this moment. For example, you can say, "Abe was a complex figure. It's not going to be the case that everyone in Asia will mourn him, and they have reasons not to." See? Like that.
1
@philyoosays I suppose some people would say the same about an American president --- but I would hope not out loud, much less before the funeral. Memento mori.
1
@ZackKcaz Thank you for real information. Perhaps we need to wait for Kim to hear something astute. As for the bad manners on display here, these two treated the story shamefully, almost as an afterthought. Emily begins the segment by laughing. Would anyone think a report of an American ex-president's assassination anywhere in the world should be like this?
1
@Games_and_Music Sigh!! Me too. Thank you. :/ "No matter how cynical you get, you just can't keep up." --- attributed to Lily Tomlin.
1
This is your focus? You are FINE with how they announced the assassination? Emily begins the segment by laughing. The pop psychology report coming on later is mentioned before Abe.
1
@CplTom88 Well then you must be right. That's the only test. /s What would you think if an American ex-president's assassination were to be reported this way in Japan? Or anywhere? I would not like it too well.
1
Because the way it was reported here was fine. Emily starts out this segment by laughing. The assassination ends up like an afterthought. Well, Abe wasn't Euro either, so . . . Olayemi wasn't born here. If she were to sound like these two, big IF, I would blame her more. I know she was raised properly.
1
THIS is how you treat the news from Japan? This is how you report it? I'm so glad I'm emigrating. You have something very wrong with you.
1
@philyoosays Don't out her here. That's family stuff.
1
Yeah, starting out this segment by laughing was great. I mean, if the Japanese reported on an assassination of an American ex-president like this, hey, no problem.
1
Finally the rational people have come to comment. This report of an assassination was handled shamefully. Can you imagine a comparable segment anywhere in the world had it been our former president? At least I hope not.
1
France 24 has been reporting the assassination with appropriate gravitas.
1
They all gave statements. They've employed enough writers to manage that much.
