  2. @xitlallicommentstoday2169  To me, that makes the overreaction of the principal all the more unwise. Send him home to wash his face and call it a day. The less attention placed on him, the better. Doing nothing would have been far preferable to making him famous. And you're right, those who listened to the end know that Jessica said it made no sense to slap a racist label on him. He's too young to be a "racist." He's a kid. Also, I thought principals were supposed to know something about school law. Although courts give school administrators huge deference in their decisions concerning discipline, a suspension can be a violation of his rights, because he does have a right to a public education and he does have a measure of free speech in school, though obviously not what adults in a traditional free speech forum have. The point is, though, to avoid lawsuits. This is dumber than it looks -- it will probably cost the school district money, and to what end? This was really senseless.

  4. Let's suppose the student has caused frequent problems --- all the more reason not to overreact, since that is exactly what a brat wants. Send him home to wash his face. What more do they want? He's a kid.

  5. I agree. The few self-made millionaires I know were into shoplifting or selling drugs when they were young. Not one was ever arrested.

  7. Let's say the kid has a behavioral problem --- and by the way, Jessica said he was too young to be a "racist," he's a just a kid. Isn't getting a rise out of the school exactly what a bratty kid would want? Go lowkey and send him home to wash his face. Say nothing more about it. Overreacting is the worst thing the school could do. Ignoring him would have been less bad. This is ridiculous.
