As for what the ancient Greeks were like, I refer you to Euripides, The Bacchae, to start. The French have a cultural tradition of extreme parody of authority, and of really hitting the mark. Diderot's The Nun dates from about the time of the American revolution. You might want to see what that says. I defended Charlie Hebdo, I defend this.

  14. @beelin6707   You know what this is really about? It's the New Popular Front trying to further erode support for Macron. The leftist LFI leader Jean-Luc Melenchon criticized this display. I like him, and support NFP, but I understand why he's grabbing on to this. Just like the far left was more critical of Charlie Hebdo, and very critical of recent v mandates, than were the neoliberals. (In fact, a prominent PCF denounced mandates for health care workers.) In France, the memes are different.
