@superkoopatrooper4879 Don't look at Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell!! Look over there, at the nefarious pizza parlor! That almost worked, they almost got away with it. For a very long time, anyone who mentioned Epstein (or Harvey Weinstein) was jealous or a kook.

@HaveYouTriedGuillotines True. Microsoft indeed lost the case and was found liable, but it won the penalty phase!

@rickb3650 True. His father was the name partner in Seattle's top corporate law firm, and his mother sat on various boards and got IBM to talk to Bill. I remember when I wouldn't let my father get me a job that paid a buck above minimum wage.

@kkartha Sounds like you've mixed him up with a couple of other billionaires. Gates' mother helped him start Microsoft.

The first reports I saw were years ago, on French websites. You have strong headwinds in English.

During this pandemic we came to realize how much we depend on China and India for our pharmaceuticals and hospital supplies. So we're going stymie them now, on VACCINE manufacturing, during a pandemic? Looks like Gates isn't that smart, huh.

People praise that freak because he pays them to. Simple.

@ChrisCypher That's the script. The reality is more complex. Far too many children were harmed in the process. "FIRST do no harm."
1
@ChrisCypher Look up "vaccine-derived polio."
1
@ChrisCypher All right. Those vaccine-derived polio cases were NOT isolated by any stretch, they were outbreaks, and we are talking about young children, who are entitled to a heightened standard of care in vaccination. Thank you for telling us where you stand. Or inadvertently revealing it. Gates did this for self-aggrandizement, the fruits of which he enjoys now. His money and his photo-ops do not make him an expert on a complex area of human and pediatric medicine.
1
@ChrisCypher Fair enough. What I don't like (and I do not suggest you do) is the erosion of ethical standards in pediatric medicine -- and that goes both ways. Children depend on us, and there are plenty of times when irrational adults will deny a truly necessary vaccine to a child. So it isn't that I'm arguing for inaction. The thing about Gates is that I wonder how involved he really was in these efforts, where he is now treated as having expertise. We don't know that. We know he provided funding, set the goals, and hired people who hired and managed other people. I'm not saying that's not hard work, or easy to do well. I'm saying that it does not make a person an expert on vaccine distribution. What he appears to have great expertise in is arguing for profit maximization. :)

He knows people have already forgotten his visits, plural, to Jeffrey Epstein's, and that no one read The Nation article.

That was his father, apparently. There isn't a whole lot there. Most rich people of that generation believe they have superior genes.

@Dangic23 Give me a hint where to look. I know a link might be shadowed (too hard to monitor for TOS).

Financial Times April 25 "Vaccine makers have warned US officials that temporarily scrapping patents for Covid-19 shots would risk handing novel technology to China and Russia, according to people familiar with the talks. As industry lobbying has escalated in Washington, companies have warned in private meetings with US trade and White House officials that giving up the intellectual property rights could allow China and Russia to exploit platforms such as mRNA, which could be used for other vaccines or even therapeutics for conditions such as cancer and heart problems in the future."
