@johnsonpatrick80 Shame on you.

@johnsonpatrick80 As long as it doesn't affect you, I wouldn't worry.

A good time to remember this case: "Kalief Browder was sent to Rikers Island when he was 16 years old, accused of stealing a backpack. Though he never stood trial or was found guilty of any crime, he spent three years at the New York City jail complex, nearly two of them in solitary confinement." Kalief committed suicide.

@Puleczech And once he was completely subdued and motionless, then whose fault was it? Who put him in THAT position?

@chinter You're right. The defense argument is trying to confuse the jury. They have no real argument.

@27Zangle So, do you get to hasten the death of a fragile person, or a dying person?
2
Yongo Bazuk That was his own knee?

@Puleczech But isn't that always true? If a person goes out tonight and drinks, and then is assaulted, they would not have been assaulted had they stayed home sober.

@Puleczech They most certainly can let a person wanted for a possible property crime, of which they themselves may not have been aware, go. Nor do they have the right to use lethal means to restrain anyone who does not present an imminent danger to life and limb. My example isn't of random actions at all. If you think so, you must be unfamiliar with American street scenes, not to mention such establishments as frat houses. But suppose you're right about everything. A person couldn't have come up with a stronger condemnation of current policing tactics than you just did. This means we live in a police state, where in any encounter, even involving arrest for the most petty misdemeanor nonviolent property offense, a person can wind up dead -- even given that fleeing is a perfectly normal and predictable thing for a person to do. A LOT of people are petrified of being held in custody, much less jail. It is normal to flee. It is not rational, but irrationality is also normal. People are irrational every day.
