  4. The ban after 6 weeks is for any abortions except a lifesaving emergency. You think a mother of two young children should have to risk that? For a severely ill fetus that likely won't survive, either?

  5. ​@kyle-ri5mz Right. This isn't theoretically preventing something that might never harm you. This is the government preventing a doctor from treating an actual emergency confronting this mother of two right now, who wants to preserve her life and her health for her family. This is real.

  15. How do you know they were all due to irresponsibility? I lived in a country with a perfect abortion law: elective only for the embryonic stage (seem to remember 10 weeks), with an affidavit to begin the process ("I, Marie DuPont, hereby declare that I am a mother in distress, . . . "), mandatory counseling, no same-day abortions, and if money was a factor in the woman's decision, she had to be sent home with a packet of information about welfare benefits to think it over some more. Medically necessary abortions were decided by three-doctor panels, and they were humane. No way would anyone deny Mrs. Cox, and the state paid 100%. They cut abortions by between a quarter to a third. It was great. France under a Socialist. Believe it. Of course, they later liberalized the law and ruined it. Figures.
