@hrs2044 I don't follow your logic. If the same mob that abused Daphne for supporting Chappelle had instead persuaded Chappelle to change his act, then . . . ? Or do you mean, if it had set its sights on making the harder target Chappelle bend to its will, rather than going after more fragile people like Daphne, then . . . ? I don't know. I guess the mob did need a blood victory.

@hrs2044 You don't know that Daphne was defending her abuser "because victims fall into that pattern." She and Dave were not in that kind of relationship. She was free to have any opinion about his comedy, pro or con. He didn't pay her bills, he wasn't her lover. Unless you knew her up close, you have no reason to impute that type of psychology to her.

I agree. There is a tradition of the court jester, who is the only person allowed to say certain things, even to the king. He is a safety valve unlike any other.

Interesting. He often does that, and people miss it.

@hrs2044 The other post was talking about the kinds of excuses for bad behavior that amount to victim blaming, but I have no idea why. I don't see that you were.

@curtw878 Well, but do you want to work for a company that produces, for example, anti-white male content? I'd say, it depends. As far as I'm concerned, Chappelle can say crazy stuff about women, but if I had a boss who took it seriously and let it affect the climate in the workplace, that would be different.

@curtw878 Not what I said
