Okay. Forget her. Someone does a mass shooting -- of a grammar school, say -- and this rotten psycho leaves a social media trail that suggests he was obsessed with you. What do you say? Obviously you are appalled and probably genuinely surprised. (Probably every honest person is shocked and doesn't blame you.) So . . . Do you denounce the shooter straightaway? Unequivocally? Why not? Just do it.
7
Sigh. WHY am I surprised? My bad.

Well, I always thought law school was something everyone could complete, and had a right to try, but . . . Hmm. Her arguments are that far above you? You're listening for buzz words, to see "which side" she's on?
4
@goodtalk985 Actually, I think the opposite. I think people deliberately misunderstand her and need not do that. They choose to do that. Irony is impossible as well? No it's not.
4
@kellyw8017 Try again, for fun. Beginner's mind and all that.
3
@franwi1722 That wasn't my point. As you well know. Her arguments have premises. You need to think them through, rather than react immediately and emotionally, as Hollywood and Madison Avenue (and Silicon Valley, and hashtag clownworld) have trained you to do.
3
@goodtalk985 All OP made were condescending remarks. Why should I bother to go to the trouble of timestamping and commenting? My condescending remarks must have one-upped theirs for you to be flailing.
2
@danboehm9088 Oh, you're the one who made the "Gold Medal" remark. See above, re: arguments as compared with advertising slogans.
2
@franwi1722 If that's the case, it's a fair criticism. I will check.
2
@franwi1722 💯 But Brie said the same.
2
@sirtra And does me, too mean sa? I said I don't agree with guilt by association in any form. Don't waste my time. This top was exhausted on other threads.
2
She is not a Democrat. She didn't even vote for Biden.
1
P. S. Ditch that beard and hair. Not flattering. You're holding yourself back, for nothing.

@franwi1722 Then see her analyses today and yesterday (especially yesterday) of Matt Gaetz' strategy to remove McCarthy from the speakership. They are the most solid I've heard. Brie does have one problem in her communication style: she tends to develop relatively tangential propositions first, and then she comes back to her main point and quickly shows how her other points followed from her main point. That's not ideal, certainly. It takes some getting used to, sort of like a language that builds sentences by putting verbs last. I wish she wouldn't do that. If you're mad at her about her COVID and gender stuff, I don't like any of that, either. Is that it? She did do a pretty good segment on her own podcast, with a doctor admitting where RFK Jr's criticism of the COVID response was correct. They didn't own up to everything, but they were pretty good overall.

@franwi1722 Do you have a reference? Because that would be guilt by mere association. My understanding was that he was a fan of Tim Pool's --- but everyone has unhinged fans now. It means nothing.
1
@franwi1722 I found an account at MediaMatters, complete with transcript. Do you consider it accurate and not out of context? It shows Pool laughing the incident off nonchalantly, while also conceding there was one than a single clip of his show that the shooter saved. That does play to his audience. Pool could have made it clear the person had nothing to do with him, that of course he condemns the shooting, and THEN ridiculed the people trying to draw a tenuous link. Pool did not distinguish himself, no. He sounds like a bratty high school sophomore. But if someone is going to cite Pool, it's not fair to make it sound like the association was more than it was. It was very tenuous, and the social media mob played it up. I agree about that part. Ironic: Pool did what Brie does, failing to make his main point stand out. Lol. Figures.
1
@franwi1722 I'm not spreading anything, btw. I'm sick of guilt by association. If someone has millions of fans, you can be sure some have been convicted of the worst felonies. That is true of absolutely everyone. Ted Bundy probably watched Walter Cronkite.
1
@franwi1722 Okay, but this isn't just any person. No, he has no obligation to be serious, he can be flippant, but I'm no fan of it. Whether he did something wrong (no) is separate from whether I like his attitude, personally. I guess I'm not clear on how off-base Brie is. Now I'll have to listen to her again. Not now, lol.
1
@franwi1722 I can see there was a lot of cut-and-paste, people just calling the shooter a fan. I agree that's bad -- way worse that Pool being childish. He had no obligation to distance himself from the guy. But I think it would have been good to be serious for five seconds. Watching Jeffrey Sachs on Chris Hedges. They were quoting from one of the speeches of JFK. What people used to be like! It's unthinkable now.
1
@kellyw8017 Timestamps?
1
@poloshirtsamurai So, no timestamps. I am shocked, shocked.
1
@franwi1722 Of course. I called for the same. And you just did denounce the hypothetical psycho shooter, in perfectly acceptable terms. Nothing more needed. That's why I said 💯.
1
@sirtra Not for me, either.
1
@sirtra no worries, thanks for reminding me to block you
