@andren8788 Well, the threats are not cool. What motivates people to do that? Especially if they pity her?

That's true, too. But threats are a whole different level.

@EzraKramer Pfft. Your post reeks of jealousy.

This is true, too.

@tenderlungs2065 Are you kidding? In my high school, I had friends whose parents were on hard drugs. One neighbor was an organized crime enforcer, another a cop and clandestine member of a drug gang.

@melissagreye8445 I'm just glad when they are not beaten or killed.

@justoguillermomontoya3821 Well, it's ordinary enough that I do believe it. On the other hand, that the threats were credible is unlikely. People just do that nowadays.

OMG, you are soooooo normal. That's . . . different.

@GigiGhiba-bd4ox That's not bad if they are not robbed by their kids first. I remember when this was happening to my mother's friends, 30 years ago. One got the money back after going to a lawyer. When my mother died, she cried her eyes out. People not only are exploited, they are also ashamed to talk about it. They will get jeered at and judged, instead of supported.

How does that justify threats? Sounds like you believe her life will end up being miserable enough, no? Or do we have to hurry up and make her live in fear now?

Consider how many women who were later divorced or even killed by their ex wrote extremely complimentary comments about their husbands. Those are the ones I remember, and shudder. That is the insecurity that should worry you.
