  2. Stop with obfuscating the marginal value of a dollar. A dollar is not a rigid yardstick. $1000 to someone in the bottom two quintiles (of earnings or net worth) has an entirely different value than it does to someone in the top 10%. A multimillionaire cannot usually tell you their net worth in financial assets to the nearest $1000, or even the nearest $10,000. These fluctuations make no difference to the richest, yet can force the poorest into bankruptcy. Anyone who doesn't spell this out is not telling you the truth.
