When it comes to First Amendment rights, the standard IS stronger than that. It is enough for a school official's conduct to raise a reasonable concern of discrimination if you do not engage in a religious observance -- you don't have to wait until you are actually denied playing time on the basis of your resistance to proselytizing. Yeah, Brie went to law school, as did I.

I haven't read the case yet. Have you? Will you?

Deist is correct, and remarkably many were. Some were Unitarians as well.

@twoshedsjohnson8540 Olayemi is a lawyer. Look it up.

@twoshedsjohnson8540 You think there is a distinction between this case and Kaepernick? If speech, religious or not, is protected, then a state actor (such as a public high school or college) CANNOT impose "consequences" on that speech. Who taught you this "consequences" talking point? WHY did you believe them?
1
@twoshedsjohnson8540 No. And that's the difference.

@twoshedsjohnson8540 IOW, the absence of a state actor, and not the "consequences" blather, IS the difference. Unless you work for a public institution, you don't have freedom of speech on the job. Bezos can fire you, as can Musk, Bill Gates, etc.

@twoshedsjohnson8540 Religious speech has NO preference over political -- or vice versa.
