The report states that this woman's daughter is already managing her financial and legal affairs. Read a power of attorney. It states that it can only be invoked when the person is unable to manage their affairs themselves. For someone so rich, it IS a very big deal. If it were only a matter of needing a personal assistant to help her get to a meeting or an office or bank, she can snap her fingers and have that. That's not the problem here. FDR needed leg braces and a wheelchair. That is not this.

@user-cg1qq2er8x You're right. There is more than one kind of POA, or circumstance where it is used. I wasn't thinking of guardianship, no. For adults, that requires a court appointment.

@user-cg1qq2er8x The OP was describing a POA where the person holding it is making decisions on behalf of the person granting it, not simply fulfilling a ministerial role. Actually, it was ambiguous, because then they described what you do. We should look up California law, tbh.
