  6. That's not their role. Conspiracy theories are red herrings: the point is to make up a truly outlandish story that any rational person would disbelieve, to make the TRUE story appear crazy, too. The whole area becomes tainted, and cannot be mentioned in "polite company." Conspiracy theories are often floated by the bad actors themselves. Epstein benefitted from the Comet Ping-Pong hoax.
