Your taxes go toward paying the interest on Treasury bonds.

Well, let's consider this: a fraudulent school cannot be sued, so those who did nothing wrong are left with debt. They cannot file for bankruptcy to rid themselves of the debt. How can this be fair? The people who ran the schools can never be forced to disgorge their unearned salaries.

Make the student loans dischargeable in bankruptcy, then. That's how the schools are off the hook, via bankruptcy. Those who drew salaries working for these schools never have to pay the money back, either. Exactly who should bear the burden? Where was government to stop the fraud??
8
@nicholusshadursky9512 But the student debtor is prohibited from filing for bankruptcy. Get it?

Having the schools, their former employees, and the regulatory agencies who were supposed to oversee them all off the hook, and students who were in fact defrauded unable to declare bankruptcy is your idea of fair? Everyone else gets to keep what they got.

@ChesneySnow 💯

@gugy68 Whose mistake was it? If someone defrauds you, are you to blame? Great, don't even prosecute fraud. It's your fault anyway. Buck up, take responsibility. If your spouse beats you, same deal. I didn't marry them, I don't want to pay for them to sit in jail.

Because they were defrauded but cannot declare bankruptcy.

@capttrips1523 I have never voted for a ticket with Biden on it. Not ever. Even Brie didn't vote for Biden in 2020. She didn't vote for HRC in 2016, either. LOL, what a turnoff he is.

My family was defrauded due to corporate crime. I would like to be where we should have been with our own hard, honest work --- and not a cent more. Just where we should be, no interest paid, either, and I'd be very pleased.

@kreativeforce532 Oh I see. My last post didn't have neon sarcasm flags attached.

This is how it actually goes: The hyperrich get government contracts and tax breaks, because they are "job creators." They use their earnings to lobby for more preferential treatment from government, including the ability to offshore jobs. Then instead of paying taxes, they buy T bonds. Then, tax revenues go straight to them to pay them interest on those T bonds. Neat, huh? 🤗

Every billionaire is dependent on them.

They're judgement proof. It is like COVID, actually.

@kreativeforce532 What do you THINK I'm saying? I agree wholeheartedly that you should not have to pay back your loan. In fact, a full refund is in order.

Neither one is.

1
No. He really made no sense. The people who drew salaries from these schools cannot have the money clawed back. The schools themselves would be liable for fraud BUT they are bankrupt. So, who should be on the hook? The victims?

Actually, this was a hypothetical -- only assumed for the sake of argument.
