Rethink how you're approaching this. Most applicants in your position come across as desperate, and that guarantees no job. You are probably giving yourself too little credit, and other people too much. That turns into a downward spiral. We live in an advertising-saturated age unlike any other. If being a little less respectful and more arrogant creates more trust in your abilities, then DO THAT. This is a game.

This has become a "problem" because the corporations say it's a problem. Labor has greater power. That alone is a great thing.

Hm. The steelworkers and riggers I knew did find camaraderie in their union locals, and I have heard the same from autoworkers, but I can believe that was not generally the case for everyone.

Well, Fauci is still a generation older than you. 🤣

@eddievangundy4510 That's right. On top of everything, WE pay him, and we have no choice.

This sounds like a GOOD thing to me. The labor force needs the power. Of course their increase in power is going to be denounced and they will be smeared.

I'm sorry, but this made no sense. What, exactly, happened that you cannot get out from under? If you are being blackballed, get legal advice.

University affiliation greatly enhances the chance to publish. Major, prestigious universities are quasi-literary agents. They serve the same function. If you do your dissertation at Yale, it will be read by someone at OUP. A better manuscript from University of Kentucky is less likely to see the light of day unless that author gets lots and lots of papers published in various journals first and gets admitted to all the symposia to present research. "Hope" gets a person nowhere.
