@subhadramahanta452 Because the first prime number is 2. The proof requires multiplying all the prime numbers up to P, the "greatest" prime number, by hypothesis. This leads to a contradiction, because ((2 x 3 x 5 x 7 x 11 x . . . x P) + 1) is greater than P and cannot be the product of any of the primes up to and including P.
