  1. And I would guess that witnesses who refuse to come forward are unarmed in their homes and afraid for their lives. I think that's a pretty good guess. Then of course there are the police who are in cahoots with drug lords. One lived right on my block. The other side from the mob enforcer.

  2. Bucktown is an expensive neighborhood. It is not a safe one, and never was. Locals know, innocent suburbanites and others from outside the area imagine it's hip. Poor artists lived there about 30 years ago, always a harbinger of coming gentrification. The poor artists knew to be cautious.
