In America? At this point, anyone who can make a buck off of it. That's where we have been since 2008. Flagrantly. Really since Reagan, but it was not yet inevitable and inexorable.

@benstern310 Do you not understand? They all spend MUCH more on lobbying than they pay in taxes. They then buy the tax laws they want, score defense contracts, and buy US Treasuries and collect interest. We owe them our taxes.

@benstern310 Obviously I was talking about America. I'm not suggesting Paul McCartney or J. K. Rowling do that. I have no idea what they do, nor were they at Trump's inauguration, nor do they have defense contracts. I seem to recall a Paradise Papers scandal, but I don't remember any details.

@benstern310 Well, that's pretty much your imagination, or the public image you seek to cultivate. The latter is probably wise, obviously. In the US, court papers often shed a lot of light on what each of these people did to attain their positions. Every one of those who were at the inauguration conducted surveillance on the rest of us to an unprecedented degree, and monetized it.
