Why is it that after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, people understood that scientists were not gods and science could be grievously misused, but suddenly we are supposed to forget all we've once known, and throw all scepticism away? And I do mean genuine scepticism, not the claim that "the opposite stance" is true. I mean deliberately suspending judgment while we investigate. What happened to that?
