What saddens me is how rare it is for anyone to be as fair to Glenn as he is to everyone. Due process and presumption of innocence cannot be allowed to deteriorate further.

@natejones8508 I said it is rare for anyone (example: Intercept) to be as fair to Glenn as Glenn is to people he despises (example: Gaetz), much less those he respects (examples: Assange; Snowden). Intercept violated his contract with them. He was willing to publish his story elsewhere, as he had a right to do under the terms of his contract. They denied that he did, then made ridiculous personal attacks against him. He made the correspondence public. Greenwald is more fair to the likes of Gaetz than Intercept was to him. And he was a founder of The Intercept.

@natejones8508 The story he proposed didn't violate anyone's rights, claim Hunter should be indicted, for anything, or claim Hunter was already indicted, or about to be indicted, and on top it it, the story turned out to be factually accurate. In one case, there is a pending investigation, as there should be. In the other, we are supposed to believe "Russia did it!!"

@joefilter2923 Yeah. Make up something lousy about Glenn (or anyone, fill in the blank) and then crank up the outrage. It got Rachel Maddow rich. Wait. You aren't doing this for FREE . . . are you??

A Glenn Greenwald podcast is the only place where I can exhale.

@mckernan603 That's the point. The selection pressure guarantees we'll have more politicians who are as bad as Gaetz. Only a person of great ambition and small character goes into politics as it is. Why didn't people see through this creep in the first place, before it came to this? How the h€ll was he elected??

@natejones8508 Breathe, then reread.

Thanks for that link! Very important point.

Pretty much like that. I like your comparison.

Even speculation is one thing. Speculation is an expression of opinion, and opinions are free speech. Saying he has been charged is a flat-out lie.
1
@MegaSsloan Do you know the difference between factually-supported opinions and flat-out lies?
1
@MegaSsloan Russiagate is not only damaging because it trains people to believe fabrications unquestioningly, and makes news a matter of clicks rather than a means of conveying important information, but also because it has allowed the MOST corrupt members of the DNC to cover up their failures and consolidate power, and further, because it fomented a xenophobia against Russians that comes close to what a certain German dictator used to say about them.
1
@MegaSsloan Any real leftist knows how to recognize propaganda, and demonization based on creed, color, or national origin. They also know how to take down a nasty little tool like Gaetz without stooping to possible defamation -- based on sex, of all things. Like with Trump, the truth is horrendous enough.

Greenwald protested the deliberate censorship of the lost laptop story. You don't see the distinction? Greenwald nowhere suggests the news about the investigation of Gaetz should be surpressed. Gaetz is a public figure and a public servant. The facts should be reported, as such. Has anyone called Hunter a pedophile? Or said the charges against him are sickening? (There are no charges.)

Don't count on taking the LSAT anytime soon. 8:27

Thanks for letting us know. Um, where does he need to go, exactly? You know about how prison requires a trial or a guilty plea, right?
1
@matthewschwartz6607 Apparently Gaetz is not running again. How the h*ll he got elected in the first place merits an investigative report. That's what the journalists should be doing. I don't want to see a clone replace him.
1
Not in the U.S. Supposedly.

Look at the difference between the COVID deaths in nursing homes coverage and the hashtag-MeToo coverage of Gov. Cuomo.
1
Well, apparently you read the factual allegations much more carefully than half the newscasters and other talking heads did.
1
Where did Greenwald say reporting on the investigation, etc., is inappropriate? How could it be? The issue is whether everyone, even Gaetz, is entitled to a presumption of innocence.

The minimum we can ask of any member of Congress (or President, or any elected or appointed politician) is that they obey the laws they swore to uphold, and will have a hand in enacting. You have gotten tolerant of zero principles. That never ends well.

The Wall Street definition of truth prevails: if you are FIRST to jump to the right conclusion, you will get very rich. Everything is market logic, or follows the market logic model. "Due process" is too slow.
