I think Kasparian's accusation against Aaron Mate, that he denies children were killed in gas attacks and other war crimes, is even worse than the now-cliched accusation of being with the Russians, etc. Especially because AARON is the one who wants to find out who committed these heinous acts.

@zacharyrivera566 Exactly. He especially should not have ghosted Dore and invited Cenk's nephew to replace him -- who proceeded to use sexist language on the program.

Ana gained a lot by using both tactics. Think about all the relationships she obliterated.
10
Maybe he's just not that smart?
8
Trump-style politics won. They all sound like him, unhinged.

Take a close look at Ana's DM. She also took quite a swipe at Jimmy's wife. Wow. That's a feminist all right.

@daysjours There are certain "hot button" topics that can now ruin a career, and very few people have the sheer courage to address them. People simply shy away. Glenn was just on Briahna Joy Gray's podcast discussing trans people, and the fact that the label "transphobic" can now destroy a person. (Excellent podcast -- Briahna was outstanding.) It may not be obvious but showing that TicTok of a transwoman taking notes on pronoun errors to save for later use was very brave.

@daysjours Anyway, Kyle does not strike me as sharp enough to see through it. He'll look for signals from other people for how to act.
5
They don't need HUAC or COINTELPRO for this. Now they have infiltrated mainstream media and minds to the point where lots of people will take over this part of the job.

Glenn was interested in addressing the larger phenomenon. This isn't about Dore. He wanted to focus on the new and approved use of smears and innuendo to destroy reputations, and the weaponization of metoo for the same purpose, which will very soon result in actual victims having no recourse. Again.

@caitlinstuart5229 I agree. When Kyle made the first (surprising) video, I thought Jimmy and Aaron did a very nice response, and there was clearly a conciliatory note. Then, Kyle made another (more cringeworthy) video. This caused Dore to overflow. He was really mad, and felt unheard. It's really a shame. People know Dore has flaws. He doesn't deny it. He had real tragedies in his life. Glenn is doing the best analysis here. I don't know whether to exhale or sigh.

Listen and find out.
2
@Camcolito We have got to get to the point where we can laugh at the Clintons and the Kasparians.
2
@colinfffff I agree. The specific charge made against Aaron, and the fact that he's a journalist by profession, which means tangible damages are presumed (not to mention what Glenn said about this type of charge having the potential to put a war correspondent in danger), should be sufficient to give rise to a lawsuit. Enough is enough.
2
@GlennGreenwald This was tremendous. Please post whenever it does not take away attention from more important work.
2
Not listening. Refusing to listen. Taking a position completely arbitrarily. Having absolutely no clue. Condemning reflexively. Having absolutely no principles or discipline. Being proud of that. This is what Glenn Greenwald will always fight against.
2
Whew! Thanks for the edit.

For the same reason numerous women did not take down Cuomo.

@snakemongoosepanther Do you have some sort of reading challenge that you cannot understand irony?
1
@snakemongoosepanther You more than anyone need to listen very closely, not to Dore, Ana, etc., etc., but to THIS video by Glenn Greenwald.
1
Great humor is a sign of good mental health.
1
Look how much fun they were having just a couple of months before this rot started: https://youtu.be/cr2SmniV0HY
1
@Camcolito I know. :/
1
"Restorative justice programs" -- second watching, cracked me up: 36:22 They are ready to ruin these programs, too. That part is not funny.
1
But do you see the problem with suing? "Opinion" is never libel. The scope and limits of what constitutes "opinion" has changed. That's the landscape Greenwald just described.
1
P. S. I wish Aaron had sued, though. My sympathies are with you.
1
@colinfffff I know, but Glenn just reported on these sorts of cases, with Maddow and Carlson, and mentioned Maddow here. The argument that no reasonable viewer would take such commentary seriously, and would know opinion was being expressed in an exaggerated way to generate interest in the program, was enough to defeat the defamation charge. Bizarre but true.
1
@colinfffff OH WELL. :/
1
He didn't address that at all.
1
28:01 About 5 minutes
1
No. Glenn was perfect. Ana wanted to force people to take sides, and she did.
1
Horray! Suggest a book. For example.
1
@kevinkelley1205 Thank you. I have that one. About time I read it.
1
@VidarrKerr That is understandable, but Glenn is a real lawyer. And a real journalist.
1
Yes, bad example, agreed -- even though the point he was making at that moment is sound: WHY did Ford wait? This is a very important question. Kavanaugh was gaining power for years and years. He was sitting on the most important federal appeals court before this. And Ford is not a vulnerable person without resources, starting with adequate counseling to help her confront her reluctance. She had all that. Kavanaugh's reputation is ruined, but you're right, that is relatively trivial given the bigger picture.
1
@derrickbrossard1966 That, too! Plus the very middlebrow conviction that whatever brings more money must be more valuable in some way.
1
@daysjours Perfect word for it! I'll borrow when necessary. :)
1
They both got a lot out of this, considering. That's why Greenwald is speaking out.
