They got a traumatic injury from being led to believe in Havana Syndrome for so long. PTSD from being manipulated like that is an injury. You don't just wake up and feel better after finding out how you were deluded. Severe PTSD can show up on sensitive brain scans, by the way.

I would like more in-depth reporting on this. If people were deluded into believing they had neurological injuries, that is a TRAUMA. This kind of misdiagnosis is not funny at all. It could cause very real disability for years. You don't just get better as soon as you find out the truth. Usually, the opposite.

PTSD can do that.

If the diplomats weren't in on it, and really believe they have neurological injuries, that is severe psychological abuse. They were traumatized. They could need treatment to recover. You don't do this to people. Well, unless you're a mobster.

@guyfaux5010 I said if they weren't in on it. If I had to bet, I would believe a few weren't. If it turns out that they all were, well then I am shocked, shocked that lying is going on among the CIA and CIA adjacent.

OTOH, first responders clearing the rubble from the WTC terror attack were at first told their sickness was "all in their heads."

He didn't say it was their "imagination," although I agree with your basic point. Being misdiagnosed and psychologically manipulated can lead to PTSD, a very real illness. This type of prolonged trauma can leave a person in need of rehabilitation. It's not a joke at all, I agree. We need to hear from the victims, in their own voices.

@dustyfeller I think you're right. I oppose silencing anyone, least of all a person with neurological symptoms. But I don't say PTSD as if it were not very serious. I believe some cases have neuro-physiological signatures. I think I've also seen that PTSD sufferers are at higher risk of depression, heart disease, and eventual dementia -- even if they don't drink too much, etc.

@dustyfeller No worries. Basic agreement. The whole picture worries me. This should never be about "taking sides." People were harmed. That much is certain. How, by whom, etc., is much less clear, which means that the best course of treatment is not evident, either. We need to care more about one another.

I'm not.

@MrZerausogaitnas Tell me about it! US bombed where my relatives are. Bombed innocent civilians with Depleted Uranium.
1
@MrZerausogaitnas But some of these were actual diplomats, and victims of their own spy agencies probably.
