@MorteWulfe There is no such thing as the trap of the bell curve. Bell curve logic describes actual data. The data come first. Either they show this pattern or they don't, and in any case deviate more or less from this pattern.

This business about "victim" thinking is so odd. It sounds like one of those "think positive" mantras that are the staple of training in sales techniques. The actual classics of the West, like Plato or the Bible, always hold the victim of injustice as the moral superior of the perpetrator of injustice. In Gorgias, Socrates says being the perpetrator is far worse than being the victim, even though the victim suffers more pain -- because the perpetrator exceeds everyone in evil. The Book of Job agrees. Toni Morrison always said she was taught at an early age that she was the moral superior of anyone who discriminated against her. She never flinched. Her father taught her that. If you worry about not being a "victim," you're still thinking about it.

@pills4bill Tolstoy, actually . . . for his characters. The Russians consider Pushkin the father of their modern literature. Under the law in many US states, Pushkin was 🖤. I'd be more direct, but you know about the cents or 🛳 here.

@mattschrader5047 Not sure what you mean. Real world data never matches the bell curve perfectly, and really deviates greatly when mean and median are far apart. Then there are things that are binary, and form a U-shape with extreme rarities in between (if any). Anything that involves higher mammals responds greatly to the environment, because that is what intelligence evolved to respond to. That's what we then build our individual brains to do.

@BonRain8734 Oh yeah? Read any of it? America is into fat pay for soft skills. 😂

@williamsmith8271 Why did my standardized test scores soar when I moved to France and studied philosophy and Ancient Greek in French? 🤔

If IQ is an individual assessment, why would you measure the IQ of groups? Suppose it is the case that cystic fibrosis is more common in people of northwestern European descent than in people of Mediterranean descent. Do you presume the Irish child sitting in front of you should be treated for cystic fibrosis? Do you presume the Spanish child doesn't need to be tested for cystic fibrosis? Tell me exactly what the purpose of the dubious group score is, and how it should be used.

@explorenaked This MESS started with Reagan. You keep wanting more of it. Education, for one, was undermined in California by Reagan, then everywhere else by Reagan. The excuse then was that schools were full of rads and hippies; today, the wokesters play that role. (BTW, Reagan's own kids were in the rad/hippie group.)

Let's assume this IQ story is true. Why not? We can assume anything that's not logically impossible, for the sake of argument. What, exactly, does that prove about you, yourself? I'm really curious to hear your answer.

@williamsmith8271 Mine have, too.

Both of these people make vastly more money than they are worth. Read any major European philosopher, psychologist, or sociologist and see what THAT sounds like. It is quite a shock.
1
@bgandjsco1 Could you please clarify? "Group" IQ leads to treating individuals as individuals? How so?
1
@bgandjsco1 I blame individuals for underachievement. For example, this author is your touchstone. My touchstones are Plato and Shakespeare. This is not "IQ." This is my choice. Anyone who can read can make that choice.

And so are these two.

That's who you have to brag on? I'd say the Prime Newtons podcast has done more for the world.

@drunkenskeptic6633 The Nubians were Pharaoh for a little over a century around the time of Homer, who referred to them in the Illiad and the Odyssey as "Ethiopians," i.e., people with sunburnt faces. You never read literature? Greek gods used to visit the Nubians, meaning that they were seen as akin to the Greeks.

In the meantime, if you watch math videos, pretty soon you'll see that most of the instructors are Nigerian.

@draoi99 Prime Newtons?
1
@draoi99 Oh look who doesn't like math. "Soft skills," huh?

Let's say that "white people" have "higher IQs." Let's assume so, why not? It's for the sake of argument. What does that prove about you, yourself? I'm really curious to hear your answer.

Pro-Palestine demonstrators blocked the Golden Gate Bridge at that hour just yesterday.

The Golden Gate Bridge was occupied at that hour.

@braddeal6445 Strange how the problems are not quite the same once you get away from the 5⃣ 👀.

No one hates intelligent women of any background as much as white women do.
