Qualifications can hurt you. The worst situation is where the immediate superior sees you as competition. If you are hired, you might wish you hadn't been.

@ebinrock Oh I see. Something I told students that worked to an amazing degree was to (very politely) request an informational interview. Some who had had serious career troubles walked out with an offer, and it was not even a job interview. If algorithms are stopping you, try that. You won't be fed through them, or at least you have a chance of not being interrupted that way.
