Effectiveness and safety are two separate questions, always. Safety of vaccine is measured against risk from the illness you're vaccinating against. Make testing easily available and you will have a great case for a "vaccine or test" mandate. That way, people can schedule their boosters without worry, too. When your vaccine wears off, then it's time to test, Kyle. ;) After all, you took Johnson and Johnson. ;)

Glenn Greenwald just dropped an outstanding video and at the end he addressed Chomsky so perfectly, with sensitivity and intelligence. He's the only one I've seen do that so far, and he is friends with Chomsky. Of course he disagreed with the statements, while praising the man.

So, does Kyle think we need papers to get groceries? We got groceries all last year, before anyone was vaccinated. Medical workers and first responders went to work, risking their lives to protect you all last year, before anyone was vaccinated. Now, when you are SOOO well protected by your vaccine, everyone needs papers? Hm. Odd.

With hate speech? No, CGT still hits the nail on the head. CGT (French hard left union) organized a demonstration of vaccinated health care workers in support of their unvaccinated colleagues and against mandates and passports. Of course. This increasingly has the character of a MORAL PANIC.

Maybe the idea of government excluding and segregating the unvaccinated, and preventing them from engaging in normal life, when vaccines do present risks and give incomplete immunity that wanes so quickly, and when we are talking about an illness with a less than 2% case fatality rate, rubs some people the wrong way? Especially considering we all grocery shopped last year, before any vaccines. Plus the swearing and name calling, from someone who said he got the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, which does not do as much as mRNA to stop spread. Hm. That might be it. Well, maybe.

@ashleecantu6470 Well, what makes you so sure I'm not one of those people who cannot be vaccinated at this time? I am not afraid of the unvaccinated at all. I take for granted that I have to limit where I go and observe the rules that were in place before any vaccine was available, and take tests -- which I am glad to do, and which vaccinated people should be doing as well, given the growing body of evidence that the protection OF OTHERS (as distinct from protection of vaccinated persons themselves) that vaccines afford is not extremely robust and wanes rapidly. But I make no demands. This is just my view. The vaccinated have excellent, though not perfect, protection against death or hospitalization due to COVID for at least six months, which should persuade most people to do it. I don't expect others to go get vaccinated for me, especially not with these vaccines. I categorically oppose coercive tactics. Kyle himself took Johnson and Johnson. Check how good the protection of others works with that one. In France, the CGT (hard left union) organized a demonstration of vaccinated health care workers in support of their unvaccinated colleagues and against mandates. A mainstream publication, L'Obs, carried the video and all the comments praised the CGT for their humanity. That's called civilization. The Scandinavian countries do not mandate vaccination, either, or recommend it for the very young. There is a reason why they all have longer life expectancies and healthy kids, while we had record drug overdose deaths last year. I don't know about this other stuff you're saying. What does this have to do with my post? Who and what do I have to "call out?" Are you all right? Don't you see this IS NOT WORKING? It reminds me of the hatred and panic that swirled around HIV.

@ashleecantu6470 Nothing you said is responsive to me. Why bother? Also, I can assure you I am not laughing. Remember when hearing that the illness you have has a 2% case fatality rate was a cause for celebration? I certainly do. It's fresh. Also, my family in the US did die out, not of COVID but of medical malpractice. Luckily the ones abroad did not die under US bombs. (They were bombed. The bombs missed them.) Also, paragraphs?

@ashleecantu6470 Five million have died globally, according to Worldometer, 765,000 in the US. Current case fatality is below 1.7%, possibly in part due to vaccines. It went down a lot. You would not know that from the mainstream press. As for not allowing people to EAT, we feed the Boston Marathon bomber and the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas school shooter. Nice going if excluding the unvaccinated from any semblance of normal life sounded reasonable to you. Anyone who seriously thinks so is being hysterical. But someone else's comment is gross and insensitive. Never fails.

@ashleecantu6470 Wait. Let's back up here. Do you think unvaccinated people should be under strict quarantine, so that groceries have to be brought to their door? Please explain why that would be necessary. People shopped for their own groceries all last year, before vaccines were available.

@ashleecantu6470 Chomsky's first comment about access to food was "that's their problem." If you didn't hear that, could the vaccine have had a harmful effect on you, possibly? Or the fear mongering did! I vote for the latter.

@goozebump The actual left, which exists in Europe, is strongly anti-mandate (and anti-patent). CGT is anti-mandate, Norway, Sweden, etc., have no mandates.
