  4.  @smirky101  It wasn't a "death threat." Basic First Amendment law. VERY basic. Hyperbole is not a true threat. Gross rudeness is, in general, protected speech. It has to have something more wrong with it to be unprotected. The First Amendment is important. Spending a few dollars on it is hardly irrational.

  8. The REASON people say "gender" rather than "sex" is because "sex" is also an activity. I support the correct use of the terms as explained by The Rational National. But there is nothing nefarious about the misuse of the term "gender" in Chappelle's case. It IS a misuse, however. Useful explanation. Let's use terms correctly. Having said that, if there is a good reason Chappelle ought to self-censor, you have a serious burden of proof. Just saying that this or that joke endangers peoples' lives is not sufficient.

Anyone who reasonably believed Rittenhouse was the instigator of violence had a right to DEFEND THEMSELVES AND OTHERS by trying to wrestle him down and take the weapon away, just as you would or I would, if we were trying to disarm, say, a school shooter or other mass shooter. What twisted nonsense have you been listening to?

All the aftereffects of the pandemic haven't been shed yet, which is why I'm still commenting. (Needless to say, I never joined Facebook, Twitter, etc., under any name -- or this platform, before the shutdowns.) My license is in California, not Florida. Look, it's plain that you don't know the law. What does distress me is that First and Fourth Amendment rights are being undermined drastically, from all corners. Maybe you should stop and think about whether you want to be a part of that. Forget about me, lol. This is bigger than the both of us.

  16. Be prepared to be shocked again: France has a higher cancer rate, proportionately twice the smoking rate, and still has a longer life expectancy than the US. French women were usually in the top three major countries for life expectancy, the other two being Japan and Sweden. This might have changed after the pandemic. Several Scandinavian and northwest European countries have higher cancer rates and longer life and health span: good food, early detection, excellent care. I guess that works?

The Republican Party was once a party of self-reliant, self-disciplined Yankee types, where people shunned ostentation and mistrusted huge fortunes unless they were the result of obvious ability and decades of hard word -- self-made, of course. These were farmers and shop keepers, not B-grade movie or reality show clowns. Oh the good old days . . .

Parents who have called police have ended up with a dead kid. In Chicago. And a dead downstairs neighbor who opened the door for police. Look up "Police are often first responders to mental health crises, but tragedies are prompting change," in the ABA Journal this month.

Rittenhouse has been seen breaking the conditions of his bond, though, so I don't know if it was raised or if he was warned by the court and is lying low now. He had the nerve to go to a bar after turning 18. He crossed state lines again to legally drink. This was against the conditions of his bond.

  44. I think everyone has a right to oppose any religious orthodoxy they desire, but especially one which gravely harmed them. It is akin to being molested by clergy and opposing every manifestation of that religion. You have a right to oppose her, she has a right to oppose the Islam that she herself lived under. I don't have to agree with her. I'm sure she IS biased. This is a second-order critique about her right to a voice, not about her wisdom.

Of the major nations Russia is worst. The point is, hesitancy is not solely due to "anti-vax idiocy." Not here, not anywhere. This is one more podcaster making MONEY by fomenting divisiveness, like FOX, Rachel Maddow, etc. This video is politicizing the issue as well. I thought we had privacy in hospital rooms, by the way. Vaccine hesitancy has other types of sources in other places, as well as among many people in the US. So, there is more than one reason to have reluctance, and not every reason is bad.

The medical mistakes I'm referring to include use of FDA-approved drugs that had terrible side effects for some people, and should not have been used or should have been discontinued. That does NOT mean hesitancy over the vaccine is reasonable. It means that it has zero to do with politics, Trump, anti-vaxxerama, or the people in this video. Your lack of compassion is sure to persuade people to get the shot. /s
