  2.  @inmate0054  He was a minor. He had no business being there with a weapon of war strung across his chest. Anyone who reasonably believed Rittenhouse was the instigator of violence had a right to DEFEND THEMSELVES AND OTHERS by trying to wrestle him down and take the weapon away, just as you would or I would, if we were trying to disarm, say, a school shooter or other mass shooter. What twisted nonsense have you been listening to?

  3.  @jeffroberts6428  In Chicago, parents with difficult children have no support. A ton of social services, community mental health, etc., was cut after the 2008 crisis. They have no one to call. Parents who have called police have ended up with a dead kid. In Chicago. And a dead downstairs neighbor who opened the door for police. Look up "Police are often first responders to mental health crises, but tragedies are prompting change," in the ABA Journal this month.

  5.  @merceddominguez2170  That's a rumor. He's out on bond. He and his mother had to move for their safety. Rittenhouse has been seen breaking the conditions of his bond, though, so I don't know if it was raised or if he was warned by the court and is lying low now. He had the nerve to go to a bar after turning 18. He crossed state lines again to legally drink. This was against the conditions of his bond.

They cut all that during the 2008 crisis. I knew girls who at 14 and 15 hung out with grown men with records. They all live in posh suburbs now. Every last one. And the one who dealt drugs in my college dorm is a Silicon Valley entrepreneur. I don't mean soft drugs, either. She liked real money.

  13.  @janspup6232  Right. Utter insanity. When it was uncovered, people were still not too jaded, so there was shock at there being 13 innocent people. We've had so many mass shootings since then, and so much police brutality, that I sincerely cannot be sure the same shock would be provoked by that today. I wish I weren't exaggerating.

When grade school children are already hanging out with adults with records and running away from home, every family needs some assistance. Look, I knew 14- and 15-year-old girls who were already dating men in their 20s who were dubious, including some who had been in jail. Every single one of those girls got to grow up, and every single one is living in a nice suburb right now. I am serious. We all know what made the difference, for them.
