The POINT was supposed to be about NSA surveillance. Everyone got led down the garden path? Tucker's own fault, but that's not relevant. I guess Snowden did what he did for . . . absolutely nothing.

@MsNickie1001 This was a ridiculous take on the incident, a mere side issue to laugh about, not to focus on. It's not even enough to discredit Carlson's claim of being illegally unmasked. That's what matters. Even convicted criminals are supposed to have civil rights. THAT is the real story.
1
@scottmyers10 Thank you for informing us of the scope and limits of your objectivity.
1
@scottmyers10 I have no interest in reading this. If it were up to me, I would have removed Tucker when he praised an underage vigilante with a high-powered weapon. Tucker is not entitled to a show or an audience. Tucker is entitled to constitutional rights. Your name-calling is puerile.
1
@scottmyers10 Even convicted criminals are entitled to constitutional rights. That is a FACT.
1
@scottmyers10 Blocked, of course. Time waster.
1
This is the diversion everyone is going to laugh about, while ignoring the surveillance state encroachment? That was the issue.
1
@Mantose262 Because the surveillance state has existed under every administration since 9/11?
1
@Mantose262 Okay. So let me see if I understand. Creepy liars and various partisan hacks shouldn't have constitutional rights. You feel safe if that becomes the principle? I'd have no problem yanking Tucker's show or boycotting his principal sponsors, because he isn't entitled to have those things, but I draw the line at spying, unmasking, etc. Laws apply to everyone. Supposedly.
1
@Mantose262 The American citizens who foreign nationals talk to can be placed under surveillance, of course. They are not supposed to be unmasked. Are you living in the States? Are you old enough to remember pre-9/11?
1
@Mantose262 "Unmasked" and going public are not the same thing. To me, this is simple: Suppose Tucker is simply lying. Then that's the story. I, for one, would not be sorry to see him go. Nor would I be shocked that Tucker is lying. But suppose he is telling the truth: he was unjustifiably unmasked, and communucations that should not have been read by certain parties were being read and leaked -- all of which was unjustified, or unauthorized, or both. Is this fine, because Tucker?
1
Why do you think "who owns the twitterverse" is the point? Surveillance is the point. Even criminals are supposed to have civil rights.
1
@Laurencita That hasn't been established. That's assuming he's doing what he usually does. But suppose he is lying. Then THAT is the story, not that he jeered at someone for what he himself is guilty of. Way to miss the point.

If an American journalist seeks to interview Putin, or any foreign leader like Putin, it is perfectly normal to listen to those communications, as long as a noncitizen is on one end of them. It is NOT normal to unmask the American journalist. Aren't you curious whether this happened? Tucker saying something ridiculous is not news. (Tucker actually trying to get a scoop is news, but I digress.) Even convicted criminals (are supposed to) have rights.
1
Even hypocrites are supposed to have civil rights. Even criminals are. Or were. The money isn't the point.
1
Tucker is a reprehensible newscaster whom I would have fired when he endorsed teenaged vigilantism. That alone. But this time, on this issue, he's right. Do you not see that? Or do you not know the background? What he said was that surveillance state overreach should be the focus. This is true, this time.

@JoJo-vg8dz Baldwin said it best: he called them "people who think they're white," a mentality, socially constructed, and adopted, not predestined. Baldwin never found any in Europe right after WWII. There were horrible racists there, and even some who still believed in Hitler, but there were no "white" people. Read Toni Morrison, On the Backs of Blacks. That explains it perfectly. And read Ecclesiastes 9: 11. That's the place to start.
1
@JoJo-vg8dz Do black "racists" have social benefits for being racists? Or is it inherent in the system that only white racism can count on being rewarded? Have you ever heard of the book called The Torture Machine? You should read the first few chapters, at least.
1
@mwfmtnman But the concept of "race" is much newer. You really don't see it before the 17th century. The ancient Greeks didn't have it. Neither did Medieval Europe. The first conquistadores hurried up to baptize the most "beautiful" Aztec women in order to marry them. Homer mentions the Kush, calls them "Ethiopian" (they were from modern day Sudan), and considers them comparable to Greeks.
1
@JoJo-vg8dz You aren't interested in reading anything. That's your right as an American.
1
@JoJo-vg8dz Do blacks live under a system where being prejudiced against whites will be materially rewarded? Do you think whites who are prejudiced against blacks are ever rewarded for that prejudice? Are you an open minded observer at all?
1
@corpsefoot758 Well, I agree with your second point anyway. The first is too categoric. There certainly was a time when Critical Race Theory was American history. But you're right: "was"

If a bunch of people die in infancy, and a bunch more after age 70, but not many in between, you still get a mean life expectancy around 45 or 50.
1
Mean (or average) is informative only when you have a normal distribution. Otherwise, it's almost always misleading.
1
This is true. Are you okay with that?
1
Why would it be common practice to use FOIA to gain access to someone else's FOIA request? I mean, that sounds to me like it needs an explanation.
1
I'm sorry that one more example of surveillance state overreach was buried in a story about who owned twitter and who said something stupid again. Even criminals are supposed to be protected by the Bill of Rights.
1
@hayzed9491 It wasn't TO you, it was about you.
1
Not what happened. OH WELL. I'm not going to be living here much longer, so if you don't care about surveillance overreach, it sure makes no diff to me.
1
Mean (or average) is informative only when you have a normal distribution. Otherwise, it's almost always misleading.
1
THANK YOU. This time, the story is not about dumb memes/tweets.
1
Why aren't people seeing this?
1
That low? Where did you find this??
1
@TheCommuted I found some stuff at the Federal Reserve Board. Even the median at age 65 is horrible. How will these people live?
1
But what does it matter that Carlson is a slime? If you're not in the US, you may not know that we once had a real Fourth Amendment and a real First Amendment, and due process. It's no longer evident. Even a Ted Bundy was supposed to have civil rights.
