  2. Fighting for universal civil rights and civil liberties does not require identity politics and is not advanced through identity politics. Identity politics insures that a number of prominent token individuals will be paraded before the mainstream media and achieve prominent political positions --- and nothing more. It teaches people to pit themselves against one another and use whatever they've got to get ahead. That just describes more of the same. It is antithetical to true universal rights.
