@darkstarmatter5678 Er, you don't know that husbands leave and fail to support their kids? This is a new, shocking development for you??

@handleyobusiness Where do you see that OP was never married?

If a person could just go get a job, everyone would have one. Someone has to give you a job, and in our system, no one has to.

@handleyobusiness A lot of people do what you would rather die than do. You must have noticed.

@Joe-qv6jh No, 1990 was not the Dark Ages. $250k per year was certainly possible. But if a graphic artist made that, it was almost surely at the conclusion of one major free-lance contract, and not a regular salary. The first million dollar per year baseball player was in 1979.

@imveryhungry112 CPI inflation calculator: "$250,000 in 1990 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $587,272.38 today." You're off by a factor of 5.

@imveryhungry112 I'm not saying I do. 1) I have no idea whether it's true; and 2) people lie. People lie a lot. I'm saying it is possible. It is possible in exactly the way I described: freelance contract that almost certainly took more than a year to conclude. Were you in the work world in 1990? In NYC or LA?

The rich like it like that.

@youtubesucks1499 What I said, bro.

Whoa, I . . . I can't listen. I have a strong, strong stomach and I am feeling sick and dizzy. I'll try again later. :/

@chinookvalley Why would you believe police rather than seeking legal representation? Police know nothing about the law.
1
@chinookvalley It is NOT a common crime, in the sense that "everybody does it and gets away with it." Not true.

@imveryhungry112 The only true rags to riches story I know was an artist. He had a National Geographic cover barely out of art school, and eventually went into advertising with his own production company. At least a few of his ads were Super Bowl worthy. (He's unhappy now that he gave up painting and never made a real movie. But I digress.) He made more than that in a year, before this century.
