@Max-rw8nc It's not just that. Most French people don't stop working. They find another job that they really like, something part-time of course, or they open their own shop. Or if they were a professional, they retain the clients they really liked. When they retire is when they get to do what they've always wanted. They're not unproductive. It's not a custom to just veg out.
