@squamish4244 He kept saying he was only speaking for himself, but we all know it does not come across that way. If he were only speaking for himself, he could keep the (essentially private) information with his next of kin and call it a day.

Thank you for this. Of course there is a time when certain diseases should not be treated aggressively, if at all. That time is not age 75 for all forms of cancer. Good lord!

When you start off with a statistical falsehood, why should we listen to anything more? "Average lifespan" is meaningless if length of life is not a normal curve -- if the deaths are concentrated during the first year of life and again in childbirth. Plato lived to 80, and Sophocles to 90. The human lifespan has been what we know now for thousands of years. Saving young children, lowering maternal mortality, improving emergency care of accidents and reducing death from infection is what has made a long life available to so many. The business about people not being productive after their early sixties is also ridiculous. And I'm saying that as someone with less fear of death than anyone I know personally.
