@iansanford6544 Under Johnson, which for many good reasons was regarded as a failed administration, everyone qualifying for Medicare was signed up in a matter of months, without computers. People used index cards. There is no comparison to today.

You don't know why? Ever talk to someone who has been crushed by this society? Repeatedly suffered from medical malpractice? Systematically lied to? Told a procedure would be free, then presented with a $10,000 bill? Pushed to vaccinate, then presented with the 8-page release form, and no access to meaningful compensation in case of injury? Abused, denigrated, and bullied for simply asking questions? And who never received the kind of science and philosophy education needed to cope with these assaults properly, and resist the pull of crazy conspiracy theories and rumors? I can figure it out.

@Weiner-Worm I know people who refuse flu shots to this day because of the one problem with the rapid rollout of the swine flu vaccine in the mid 70s. I don't get it, but at any rate, the flu vaccines are fully FDA approved, and people are allowed to decline them anyway. There has never been a required vaccine at the EUA stage. It is not a trivial matter. Dr. Eric Topol, a strong COVID vaccine advocate, has addressed this issue.

The CDC itself has succumbed to anti-mask rhetoric. Of course you're right about the need for universal compliance. So why has the CDC taken this tack? There are times I hate masks, but what a tiny price to pay!
