@asiatmpo1 NATO grants membership solely by unanimous consent of all existing members. Hence even Montenegro could block Ukraine from joining, nevermind Germany or France. Did you read the article in the New York Times a few weeks ago that stated that not only did China refuse to dissuade Russia from acting, but also opened a back channel to Putin, to inform him of what the Americans were asking China to do? Look, maybe the article us wrong. But you ought to read it. You seem surprised that in this exchange, a diplomat is being a diplomat. Good grief, ambassadors don't set policy!

As for underdogs, in this case it was the minorities in the Donbass region, whom the neo-Nazis were oppressing -- which does not, however, justify the disproportionate force Putin deployed. But there's no way the neo-Nazis are the underdogs in this picture. Zelensky is an underdog, yes, and there are credible reports the Azov Battalion leaders had threatened him as well. We haven't been much of an ally to him. See Mearshimer on that point.

My family is from one of the places you've bombed (and can't find on the map), and we were destroyed by American health care -- meaning we literally died out here. Sorry, your boogey men don't get a rise out of me. If you feel threatened, I respect that. You know what's good for you, sure, no problem. Advocate for it, absolutely. But Hollywood can't make it into a Universal Good. Not anymore.

@ITALJUTE "the side you clearly support" --- listen to yourself! This is how "normal" Americans mostly sound, since 2008, and especially since 2015, when Insane Clown President first emerged on the scene. It's understandable. First we found out there was something very wrong with our money. Next, we got an inkling of just how important the pro forma occupant of the White House is. I don't expect it to get better.

@asiatmpo1 I'm waiting for the condemnation of the US-engineered famine in Afghanistan, and the exposure of all the Department of Defense funding of biological laboratories all over the world -- odd that DOD does, isn't it, and not NIH? -- and a full accounting of exactly what sort of research they are pursuing in these facilities, and what risk it poses to the rest of humanity. This iceberg is deeper than the Epstein affair.
