I care for the simple reason that we are in a proxy war with Russia, and she is an American citizen, a civilian, and a world-class athlete who has psychological vulnerabilities in a society that is not friendly to people like her. Just let her go. Now. Not an endorsement of anything she allegedly did, believe me. I have no deep criticism of contemporary Russian cultural norms. I respect them just fine. But let her go.
