  2.  @JohnMoran  Wow, thank you for the information. That must have been hard emotionally, to have known people like that. I read the book review, a long one, on the Manson biography, which was published in the London Review of Books years ago, and then some of the commentary written after Tarantino's film. That was all I knew about them. That was one of the scariest cults in modern times. Repugnant bunch. Apparently, a lot of them could sing well, and horseback ride well. What possesses people like that to do what they did? They were not without opportunities in this world.

  3. Agreed. These are all loyalty tests, too, or at least function as such. The crazier the belief, the more a person's assent proves they are "really" loyal, really "one with the group." Any of these groups could become very dangerous if (when) Trump loses.

  5. If there are such networks, spinning preposterous conspiracy theories about them only aids them in hiding. A preposterous conspiracy theory is likelier to be a false flag than anything else, and often functions as such.
