The analogy with Vietnam is approbo.  Just a note that it is believed from archived official documents since the Vietnam war, JKF was about to announce withdrawal of USA from Vietnam just before he was assassinated.  It was President Lyndon Johnson that continued and escalated the Vietnam War hoping to "negotiate a Peace from a position of strength".  I guess, Joe Biden suffering from both the JFK and the Lyndon Johnson syndrome with a high probability of achieving the same end.
