Further evidence that it doesn't matter who gets there first ... just who markets the accomplishment better. (c.f., Rolex)

Imagine bitching about ads rather than just skipping them 🤦♀️

You clearly experience a very different YouTube to what I see ... maybe stop watching garbage videos and they won't be recommended to you.

That is technically false: A barometric altimeter measures the pressure difference between the air surrounding the plane and standard atmospheric pressure at sea level ... The reading will be the same at a given altitude over a mountain or over the ocean.

Wishful thinking isn't a good argument against the Simulation Hypothesis.

My left eye's dreams of seeing a right-eye rainbow have been crushed. Thx physics.

I would actually predict that it results in more people's watching the ads.

Unclear how you'd understand PDEs if you're 'terrible at math (sic)' ...
1
@menumlor9365 Or you thought that you understood more than you did ... I suspect you don't even know the diff betw an ODE and a PDE.

Shoutout to the reality that unless it's English, it doesn't matter.

If you think you understand something nontrivial after a half-hour yt video about it, you can rest assured that you do not understand it.

This little lizard is happy to be in the tropics, safely nowhere near cold nonsense like snow and avalanches. It is very confusing that people live in the shitty places that have winter.

The obvious conclusion is that politics decreases reasoning ability. Therefore, ban politics.
1
@RGChandler Oh, yep! Edison was a master of that. In some sense, we'd love to live in a world where the best / first / most-reasonable ideas always win ... but arguing with reality tends to not work out so well, eh?
1
@YO-BIZZY That would explain why his Strine doesn't quite sound dinky-di ;P

@stevenbodum3405 To put a finer point on 'more or less', Rojas 1997 has probably the best pull-quote summary: '[F]rom an abstract theoretical perspective, the computing model of the Z3 is equivalent to the computing model of today's computers. From a practical perspective, and in the way that the Z3 was really programmed, it was not equivalent to modern computers.' ... Which, of course, he immediately follows with 'I am of course aware that these conclusions are curious enough to re-ignite the whole discussion about the invention of the computer.' ;)

@marieascot In reply to 'It does if you are claiming it to be the first.' ... It 100% does not. Rolex claim to have created the 'first' version of all sorts of things that others did before them (e.g., 'first waterproof watch') ... That their claims are demonstrably false is irrelevant in-the-world (e.g., to Rolex sales).
