  3. These are orthogonal questions. And most keyboards' being terrible doesn't mean that good keyboards don't exist. (FWIW I collect keyboards ... and fountain pens.)

  4. I only learnt Vi/Vim ~5 years ago and now enable emulation everywhere from my browser to Emacs to my terminal. Watching non-Vim people taking forever to inelegantly do the simplest things is truly painful -- the amount of time/mental energy that you'd save having actually-useful and compositional abstractions for moving your cursor makes learning Vim a net win ... and you can use it in whatever editor you already prefer. ¿Porque no los dos?
