@mahmoudghoneim8004 Haha, well, the mistake is: Thinking of watches as an 'investment' ... They're decidedly a liability ... but a terribly amusing one. And if the value you assign that amusement ceases to be greater than the ongoing costs (insurance, service, etc.), then it's time to divest.

@martintanz9098 I find it really a great bit of fun ... why only have a few watches when you can have many? Less-loved watches are still loved (and unloved watches get sold to someone who will enjoy them) ... can't take our money with us, so might as well find a worthy cause to bequeath most of it to ... and buy some consumerist crap that we don't need (but enjoy!) -- like watches -- with a relatively-trivial sum.

Luckily, there's no need to rationalise: I buy/own what I enjoy. Good luck arguing against that ;~P

Good thing there was no mention of diving in this video about dive watches.

Eh, as you prefer ... I love having a large collection -- a few core watches that I wear frequently, and the long tail that only get worn occasionally, by which point I've probably forgotten that I even own the watch ...

@martintanz9098 Oh, agreed there -- no sense in having 'filler' watches ... but ... there are a lot of keepers out there ... at whatever level of price/quality makes sense given your finances/life/preferences ;~}

@Ossory88 100% -- it's ultimately zero-sum ... but have to have some fun in life or why bother at all ... As you said: Balancing!

@mytuberforyou That's all relative to your life/financial situation 🤷♀
