@Lewdiculous Yep! WSL2 is pretty great! Despite the slightly-trolly way -- as is my style -- I wrote that, I do legit mostly sit at a full-screen term most of the time ... Possibly the only place I'm truly a minimalist. I had Win 11 running on a box recently for an experiment, and I had Ubuntu on WSL; was sincerely impressed with how seamless / dead easy getting X11 working was (in addition to normal terminal things). Msft have come a long way from the 'must kill the Linux at all costs' daze. 😉
2
@XeroLinux How are your religious beliefs even slightly relevant to Linux? Maxim of Relation. People who talk about their imaginary friends in unrelated contexts are highly sus.
2
Good thing you whinged about it instead of creating them.
2
Damn, just when we thought sudo had our back it gotta go narc on us like that!
2
`fi` / `esac` were weird choices, even for the time ... `end if` / `end case` seem like they would have made more sense -- and been only trivially more typing.
2
@SwiatLinuksa whooosh
2
@SwiatLinuksa aww hugs, was just trolling gently❤️☮️

I run Arch all the time -- and have some Ubuntu boxes ... 100% agree about stable vs rolling being a zero-sum trade-off ... If you want stable, get one of those Debian distros with their crusty, ancient packages: Everything's old as hell, but that's what you want if you want stable.
2
I've never seen trolling on the Arch Wiki ... not sure why else you'd need the Internet.
2
Almost nobody installs Windows, though. Normies just use whatever was pre-installed on their machines.
2
And to pre-empt some nonsense about 'but I remember it': 'All of your memories are nothing but myths.'
2
Most people don't even know that `ssh` exists ... or what asymmetric-key crypto is. We Linux nerds can't have nice things because normies exist.
2
Minimal browser == `curl`.
2
I run Arch and everything just works 99.999% of the time.
2
Why do people need swap? RAM is cheap these days.
2
You might want to consider that a Debian user isn't the target audience.
2
I mean does ur sys boot?! If so, yep!
2
That certainly is an interesting set of ... unfortunate languages.
2
@kanji.debian Nice.
1
@smoteytothemax Oh, also, good luck doing things like 5,12t0 in vanilla Emacs ;P
1
@oalfodr Big tech censoring friendliness to try to devolve everyone into hateful trolls!
1
More generally, I find it bewildering that anybody cares about how popular the things that they enjoy are. I like what I like because I like it; as long as there is enough support for it that it continues to exist, why would I care how many others like it? (This is much broader than GNU/Linux distros -- as attested to by all of the comments on YT roughly of the form 'you should have more subs' blah blah ... who the hell cares!?)

@kennystrawnmusic sounds like you have a skill issue
1
I trust nobody who fails to put Ed in S tier.
1
Woah, there's a tier WORSE than '5 Minute Crafts'!? Mind blown.
1
I mean g/re/p is just a schematic version of an Ed command.
1
Sounds like a skill issue.
1
I can't believe anyone still uses it after that 'little' Amazon spyware fiasco.
1
13:25 fuzzy see deez nuts
1
I checked on a couple of my boxes -- a Manjaro box and a Debian one -- and they're both 7-digit PIDs.
1
Arch had supported installing gooey bs for ages ... But you don't have to be a normie and do it. TTY only!
1
@PenguinRevolution Ah, okay, I must have been thinking of having installed something with Flatpak, then -- somehow, they were equivalently clunky in my recollections!
1
What if you watched videos that you enjoy ... instead of whinging about ones that you don't?🤔
1
Fun fact: Using social media is optional. Like teenage suicide ... don't do it!?
1
He also invented JavaScript ... which clearly means that he's a horrible person.
1
@jd4rce It's your funeral 🤷♀️
1
That strong & complicated password seems legit.
1
Or, just install Arch and give the DE a miss? What do you want all that GUI crap for when you could just have a beautiful TTY!?
1
@denizkendirci You had me at Vim + Qute.
1
s/Derek/Derk/g This is the way!
1
@Winnetou17 might as well use `tr` in that case!
1
I agree ... gparted is fantastic ... and you have to sudo it to do any damage ...
1
@DistroTube Well, it can be; you can also run `emacs -nw` (or compile Emacs without GUI support for a TTY-only system) ... Basically Emacs is ... whatever you configure it to be ... for better or worse.
1
@Lewdiculous Yes, you can script things on Windows -- including all kinds of registry crap and dealing with Chocolatey and WU ... But it's so so much simpler on Linux ... and, you get the benefit of not having to use Windows.
1
@fixer1140 It's prescription-only for a reason! 😜
1
@pinchtwo654 Manjaro's cool too; Arch fam is Arch fam ♥️
1
@catoflado4977 Lolwut?! Suse still exists?!
1
@MuhammadAlkady Facts ... No need for PPA silliness!
1
I use Arch too. So stable.
1
How else would you create child processes?
