  2. I run Arch all the time -- and have some Ubuntu boxes ... 100% agree about stable vs rolling being a zero-sum trade-off ... If you want stable, get one of those Debian distros with their crusty, ancient packages: Everything's old as hell, but that's what you want if you want stable.

  3. So, I think the answer about open-source and government software was a bit of a miss. Given that public money pays for it, it ought to be open-sourced and posted publicly.

  4. To be clear, just because you're doing secret stuff with it that doesn't mean that the software needs to be secret (basically Kerckhoff's Principle).
