You know what has a 'no-nonsense interface'? Vim ... and if that has too many features, there are Vi and Ed. No Google adware, no web-browser/GUI bloat.

Learning curves have time on the X and knowledge level on the Y axis; so, a steep learning curve constitutes rapid learning ... Something that's difficult to learn, therefore, has a shallow learning curve.

I usually run Arch (insert all the jokes here) but sometimes also Deb-based distros ... and I absolutely cannot imagine being so risk averse that I'd want to run a 12-year-old operating system. Even in prod / enterprise contexts.

Evangelists are annoying af and make the rest of us GNU/Linux users look bad. Respect people's choices of distros and desktop environments, yes! Even when that's Windows or macOS.

I'd recommend doing the inverse of what BlueSparkz said: Run GNU/Linux on the bare metal ... and then run the derpy Windows-only app in a VM.
